On Jan. 15, the National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) Commission on Polity and National Governance in cooperation with UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) will be holding a workshop to take stock of the rights situation in India.
The workshop is aimed at preparing a collective status report from their experience in the area of economic, social and cultural rights for submission to the CESCR.
"Several NGOs in India are already part of a process underway to prepare a status report regarding the implementation and monitoring of the provisions of social, economic and cultural rights in India guaranteed under the UN charter for presentation at the scheduled hearings of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR)," noted Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI).
Under the NCCI Commission on Polity and National Governance in cooperation with CISRS, Delhi, Church related and Christian organisations engaged in social and human development activities will be brought together.
Rev.Dr. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary CNI and Chairman of NCCI Commission on Polity and National Governance will preside over the meeting.
