Two Christians in Pakistan kidnapped from a hospital

In a very shocking incident, two Christians have been kidnapped by suspected pro–Taliban militants from a hospital in Pakistan's North Waziristan.

Daily Times quoted witnesses as saying, “Masked men kidnapped the Christian sanitation workers from the hospital located in Miranshah headquarters in North Waziristan on Friday.”

According to the latest stats, atleast 1000 Christians live in Miranshah.

Police suspect local Taliban to be involved in the incidents, although none has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings. Five months back, two Christians were kidnapped and later released by militants.

Christian residents of Hadyara village on the outskirts of Lahore were attacked earlier this month by men who also stormed the New Apostolic Church, established before the partition of the Indian sub–continent.

The Christians in the locality also alleged that announcements were made through mosque loudspeakers asking Muslims from nearby villages to be ready for a “final attack.” Some even urged businesses and farmers to isolate the Christians and to not permit Christians on their properties.

Two months back, Islamist militants in Pakistan threatened Christian clerics and local Christians in Southern Punjab's Khanewal district to "embrace Islam and stop preaching Christianity, to escape death."

Christian NGO's and Right groups have severely condemned the demonic acts of the radicals in the country, who continuously persecute the minority Christians. The organisations in August had sought a ban on forced conversions and repeal of the stringent blasphemy laws in the Islamic country.
