Bangalore – Pope Benedict XVI has expressed his desires to visit India and bless the Christian community, according to Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore.
“The Pope expressed his desire to visit India when I had a brief interaction with him during my visit to Rome on June 29–30, 2005” Rev. Moras said, while addressing a press conference in Bangalore, after his return from Rome.
“If he (Pope) visits India, I will invite him to Karnataka and Bangalore in particular,” Rev. Moras, who was conferred the ‘Pallium’ by the Pope said.
In fact the ‘Pallium’, which is a circular band consisting of two pendants was conferred on 32 other archbishops from different parts of the world on June 29, he said.
The use of the “Pallium” is restricted only to the Pope and Metropolitan Archbishops of the Catholic Church all over the world, he added.
Rev. Moras said that he presented a memento to the Pope on behalf of Archdiocese of Bangalore.
The Pope, in a message to the people of Karnataka has said that they should work for unity, work for peace and love one another.
“Only by loving one another, we can love God”, the Pope said.
