GCIC takes Millennium Development Pledge in Bhopal

Joining hands with the United Nations, Global Council of Indian Christians, National President, Dr Sajan K George, lead the UNITED NATIONS MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT PLEDGE at the Bethlehem Church of North India in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

A team consisting of 30 committed GCIC co–ordinators lead by Dr Sajan, pledged to build a safer more prosperous and equitable world for all by the year 2015.

GCIC is affiliated to the United Nations, in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council and the Department of Public Information of the United Nations.

Participating with the United Nations goals, GCIC assured people of continued commitment to those in need.

In Orissa, about 1,000 GCIC co–ordinators already took the pledge and unanimously adopted a VISION document named, Millennium Declaration which gave birth to the Eight Millennium Development Goals.

1. Eradicate Extreme Poverty & Hunger
2. Achieve Universal Primary Education.
3. Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
4. Reduce Child Mortality
5. Improve Maternal Health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other Diseases.
7. Ensure Environmental Sustainability
8. Develop a Global Partnership for Development

It seeks to voice the concerns and difficulties being faced by the Indians in various nations in practice of their faith.
