Church building, ransacked by 200 unidentified masked men

Around 200 masked men demolished a building under construction belonging to the Catholic Church at Chavand in Udaipur district of Rajasthan state. The incident happened on August 5 when the attacker came by vehicles after midnight around 2am.

The property belongs to the Catholic Diocese Society. Rt. Rev. Joseph Pathil, the Catholic Bishop of Udaipur Diocese said that they suspect the Vishwa Hindu Parishad behind the attack. The Bishop also mentioned about telephone calls in the past with warning against going ahead with the construction.

Rev. Father Paul Nimana, who is the priest of the center, said to Christian news, "We were planning to construct a school and a hospital for the villagers after the completion of the residence."

“The building was nearing completion and only the roof was to be built," he said.

Recent reports quote of Christians in Udaipur being attacked and accused of conversion. During the month of April, many pastors and believers were attacked and handed over to the police.

Note: We have reported the same story yesterday quoting from the police sources. This newspiece clarifies the whole situation.
