Believers attacked in Rajasthan

A pastor and his aged father were attacked and brutally beaten up by Hindu fundamentalists in Rajasthan recently, sparking communal tension in the area.

On October 29, a group of around 50 villagers of Berapuda village stormed into the house of Pastor Prakash while a prayer meeting was going on and warned him and other present of dire consequences if they persisted on conducting such meetings in the village.

According to sources close to the development, the villagers disrupted the prayer meeting, dragged the pastor and his aged father out of their house and began beating them mercilessly. Some believers who had attended the prayer meeting were also assaulted and warned of serious consequences if they continued to gather for prayer in the village.

"Right after the incident, a complaint was lodged at Bhamol Police Station against the culprits. But no arrest has been made till date," Rev. Mangilal, a senior pastor of Good Shepherd Community Church said.

"The Christians in the village, who belong to the same Meena tribes, want to compromise with the culprits, provided they agree not to disturb the Christian community in the village any more," he added.
