Attack on Christian school, radicals demand Hindu idols on premises

The efforts of Church and Missionaries in the field of ‘Education’ for sure have been worrying the Hindu radicals for sometime. Here is a typical incident that shocked the community after a Christian minority school in Bagalkot district in Karnataka was attacked by seething radicals who demanded the school remove the 'Cross' and replace it with Hindu ‘OM’.

The ‘Samuel Memorial Convent School’ became the victim of extreme vandalism by over 30 radicals belonging to the RSS/Bajrang Dal, yesterday.

Armed with wooden batons and clubs, the extremists broke open the school gate and entered the Principal's office, hurling abuses.

According to sources, the extremists demanded the school to replace cross sign with an OM in the school logo. They further instructed that the authorities install Hindu idols in the school premises.

"The militants put the school management on notice that the demand should be met immediately failing which the militants said they will carry on more serious attacks on the school and the Principal," GCIC said.

Karnataka state ruled by the BJP, from recently, has been facing continuous assaults on missionaries and Churches.

Last month, on July 27, a group of radicals disrupted a Sunday worship service and seriously injured the Pastor and the church members.

"Five Christians have sustained serious multiple injuries. Even innocent children attending the service were not spared. The radicals took hold of Priyanka, one of the 4 year old child in the congregation, and slammed her head on the wall causing her severe head injury, the condition of the child is stated to be serious," Evangelical Fellowship of India reported on the incident.
