The Ambassador of Heaven

Heb 11:25

He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time.

Before we act according to the Will of God, we have to get rid of our old sinful nature. The old sinful nature is an impediment to receiving God's will and the guidance of the Spirit. The apostle Peter said that "For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do– living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry"(1 Pet 4:3). Here we can find the six sins of pagans: they are debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and detestable idolatry. It is not easy for Christians to overcome several temptations and lures in this world.

The reasons are that: First, all of us are very weak to the pleasures of sin(Heb 11:25). Sometimes we know doing something is bad, but we are tempted to do disobedient easily. Second, Sometimes it is difficult to judge what is right or wrong. In other words, there are ambiguous facts in our life. Third, Jesus prayed so that we might stay in the world. We can not live separated from unbelievers, but we are responsible to spread the Gospel to them. Fourth, we might yield to temptation to get along with the people of the world because we do not want to spoil the fun. The people who live according to the sinful nature think it is strange that we do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation. therefore they abuse us(1 Pet 4:4). However, the day will surely come when they have to directly give their account to the Lord. "But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead"(1 Pet 4:5).

In world War Ⅱ, many young Americans were drafted to military service to be stationed at the battle line in the west Europe. But, every weekend. American soldiers were drinking and showed lecherous and dissipated behaviors. This is how Americans got a dishonorable nickname 'Ugly American'. Christians live in this world, full of temptations and trials, while good impression of the heaven either. It is a very precious thing to live according to God's will in this world.
