During the visit of Archbishop Dr Leo Cornelio at the residence of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, to discuss the attack on five Franciscan Clarist Sisters, the CM assured enhanced security and justice to the Christians in future.
The Archbishop thanked the CM for the action taken on the attacks on the five FCC nuns in Indore. He told Chauhan that a very positive message has been sent to all sections of the society by the transfer of CSP and ASP who refused to file an FIR.
According to a Church spokesperson Fr Anand Muttungal, the CM assured Dr Cornelio that he will not allow any injustice done to anyone in the state.
“We are with you,” the CM said while assuring his support to the Church and the community here.
Last month, October 25, a group of Hindu fanatics from the Dharma Rakhsa Samiti, an umbrella group of RSS barged into a Christian house and beat up five Nuns, who were holding a prayer meet.
“A mob allegedly led by a Mehra, Shivcharan and Manju began to beat them, falsely accusing them of attempt to convert. They filed FIR against nuns and a catholic person who works as driver on the same night,” said Fr Muttungal.
Fr Anand even alleged that the radicals held a rally around the convent area, threatening the Christians of dire consequences in future.
“Police as usually kept deaf ear to it. They silently support the moves of the fundamental organizations,” noted Fr Anand.
“As per our reports, the fundamental organizations are openly threatening the Christian community in entire Indore city. The district administration is not assuring them of any security in the district. The community is totally under treat. People of good will must join the fight against communalism and human right violations,” said Fr Anand.
