Hindustan Bible Institute launches Doctorate in Ministry

The Hindustan Bible Institute (HBI) Friday organised a pastoral seminar in Nagaland where church leaders were exhorted and trained on subjects involving the mission.

The seminar titled 'Growing a Great Commission Church' welcomed church leaders, mission directors and pastors numbering about 50 at the Indigenous Cultural Society (Centre), Dimapur.

Rev Dr B Gupta, president and director of HBI Ministries of India, spoke on various issues, including the holistic challenges that balk mission leaders in the country.

Apart from the seminar, the HBI, Dimpaur branch also launched the Doctor of Ministry, a ministry leadership and skills development programme.

According to Eastern Mirror, "the course objectives of the programme are to provide comprehensive understanding of Biblical theology, Church history, philosophy and religion."

It is blended with "research methods to encourage critical reflection, develop deep personal formation and design paradigms to enhance the ministry of the leaders."

Additionally, "it will also strive in building proper theological and ecclesiological reflection in the framework of formal, continuing theological education."

Further it will "provide needed tools to objectively assess contemporary socio-cultural, religious-political trends and contexts to see the relevance of Christian faith in the era of globalization."

Hindustan Bible Institute & College was established in 1952 by Dr. Paul V. Gupta, a converted Hindu. The ministry is headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
