The lack of food and support angered the flood victims who looted food from relief camps and assaulted the officials who were held hostage in Bihar state.
It was reported that the flood victims held officials hostage until victims were given food and other supplies.
Some villagers in Bihar state clashed with the police demanding more food, officials said.
"We have not eaten anything for the last several days as the market is under water and our homes are gone," said R.K. Sahoo, a villager in Bhadrak district.
Nearly 800 people have drowned in the past month, some died from snakebites, hunger or water–borne infections.
"The number of diarrhoea patients in some flood–affected areas have almost doubled in 24 hours," said a doctor.
Meanwhile Christian organizations like GFA are striving hard in the devastated areas by rebuilding homes and providing basic needs for the people.
Dr. Yohannan estimating the cost of rebuilding a home to be close to Rs. 30,000 ($700) and Rs.40,000 ($1,000) said, "I don't know if we can do all of them, but it would be a wonderful thing if the Lord would allow us to do 1,000 or 2,000."
Grand Rapids, a Michigan based Christian organization in India reported the closure of its literacy centers and Children’s Bible Clubs, due to the access to roads and trains being cut off.
Bihar Government has asked for Rs.80 crore ($800 million) of aid for recovery efforts.
