CFCA conduct health awareness for Hyderabad women

About 90 mothers attended a health awareness program sponsored by the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA) in Hyderabad.

The event was held on World Health Day, April 7.

It gave women in CFCA mothers groups the opportunity to ask questions about health-related topics that often go unaddressed, CFCA said in a statement.

"CFCA is giving priority to health issues and is conducting regular health checkups for all the sponsored children," said Suresh Singareddy, Hyderabad project coordinator. "We are working on both preventive and curative aspects of health."

Topics for the World Health Day event focused on women's health, and ranged from what to expect during pregnancy to back pain, proper diet and medications.

Program presenters included Dr. Sravanthi Ravula, gynecologist; and social workers Sukshmana Thakur, Susheela Ruben and Shehanaz Begum.

Thakur said many people take medications without consulting a doctor, which can cause health problems and diminish medicinal effectiveness.

She recommended exercise, balanced diet and ways to de-stress as healthy lifestyle alternatives.
