Bangalore – The much awaited website of the Bangalore Archdiocese has finally been launched by the Archbishop Emeritus of Calcutta Archdiocese, Rev. Henry D'Souza, at a simple but impressive function recently.
The website was launched in the presence of over 40 archdiocesan priests and other guests at St. Peter Pontifical Seminary.
"The website has been launched with the intention of adapting new means of social communication into the pastoral ministries, to promote relationships and to glorify God in our service to the poor and the needy, especially in communicating God's providential care to them," said Archbishop of Bangalore, Rev. (Dr.)Bernard Moras.
The website, designed by Excella Software Technologies, was conceptualized by Fr. S. Jayanathan, former director of the Bangalore Archdiocesan Communication Centre.
Fr. Kanickaraj, the present Director of the Communication Centre, explained the contents of the website to the gathering.
"We will shortly be having provision for interactions and greater networking on this website. We will also shortly be linking the websites of various institutions and parishes in the Archdiocese," he said.
When asked if the launch was in view of the forthcoming CBCI meeting to be held in Bangalore, he said, "This is a project of the Archdiocese but we also had in mind the forthcoming CBCI meeting and thought our website could be usefully accessed."
The website (www.bangalorearchdiocese.com) contains complete information from the history of the Archdiocese to present projects, plans and programmes of the archdiocese.
