A leading Christian body has slammed Andra Pradesh (AP) government Order No. 747 and termed unconstitutional and ‘Worst than Anti–Conversion Bill’ passed elsewhere.
Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) calls on the immediate withdrawal of the GO, it plans to contest in the high court as well.
The Andra Pradesh government Ordinance 747 bars other religions other than Hinduism to be propagated in and around 20 famous temples in the state including the world famous Tirupati temple.
Speaking to CNN–IBN, an award winning English TV Channel based in New Delhi, Mr C Francis, National Co–ordinator of Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) stated that the GO 747 has created so much fear psychosis among believers as it has started been misused when a Pastor who merely caught offering prayer in his home 70km away from a temple town was arrested on violating the norm of GO 747 which bars any other religious activities within 100km radius of temple towns in the state.
And he also stated that with the initiation from Dr. Sajan George, National President of GCIC, the GO 747 passed by the AP High Court will be contested in the High Court.
Mr. Francis claimed that a 65–year old Pastor was arrested in Kanipakam (where Ganesha temple stood) was arrested and manhandled just because he was a Christian and praying.
"This ordinance is worse than Anti–conversion law that was adopted by Tamil Nadu sometime ago which is had abandoned later," he also added.
On asking, if the GCIC will appeal the Government Order in the higher court, Mr. Francis nodded in agreement.
