Surendra Paul elected as new Bishop of Church of North India

Church of North India (CNI) elected Surendra Paul Singh to be the new Bishop of CNI, on Wednesday.

Through a preferential voting system, the CNI elected Singh as its next Bishop who will succeed Bishop Karam Masih, whose five year term ends in October this year.

The election contained four participants among whom Bishop Paul won 11 votes while Timoti Shaw came a close second with nine votes. Paul Swaroop and Victor Peter were the other two contenders, who did not get any votes.

Arnold James, member of Delhi Minority Commission commenting on the candidates said: "All four candidates have more than 10 years of experience as priests in various churches across Delhi."
