New Delhi – Saturday, 16th April, was observed as a day of prayer and fasting. It was organized by the Jesus Calls ministry and was attended by many local pastors and other servants of God. The main goal of this prayer event was to pray for the Nation, for its people, their health and prosperity, for the economic growth and peace in the nation.
The day started at 9 am with praise and worship songs and then went on till 5 pm with the pastors praying about different topics under the guidance of the Lord. They prayed diligently and with a lot of burden and the Lord answered by pouring down and filling them with His grace on several occasions.
In the opening message, Pastor T. Victor reminded everyone about the power of prayer and also said that, “waiting time is not wasting time.” He said that the Lord is “perfect in His time” and so He answers only when the time is right. He impressed upon the importance of natives in any field, saying that they are the real backbone and so it was all the more important for the servants of God to pray for the nation.
Thereafter, the prayers began with the servants of the Lord praying for the stability of the present government, the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu, the suspension of President’s Rule in Bihar and Goa, and the election of leaders who are honest and god fearing throughout the land.
While praying for the Lord’s blessings to be showered upon the various states, Pastor P. Robert said that, “ streams of joy would flow through the hardlands of Haryana and Rajasthan.”
Another servant of the Lord, Pastor A.K. Jain, while praying for the sustenance of the present government, quoted from the book of Romans (ch 13:1) that “ All the authorities that exist have been established by God” and also that “ Persecution comes as a result of our own sins” and so if the government and its officials work honestly and with the fear of God in theirs hearts, no persecution would come and they will be sustained.
Praying for the people that get elected, the pastors begged the Lord to grant them his wisdom just as he did to Moses, a great leader of the Israelites. They prayed that the leaders understand the problems faced by the masses and work for their prosperity.
Being filled with the burden to pray for the future of the country, Pastor Ratan Singh prayed for the children, he prayed for their health and their education and also for all the organizations working in these fields.
The underlying belief and strength of all these prayers was the absolute faith in the name of Jesus. Faith in God, His purpose and His actions. Among the media persons present, Mr. MPK Kutty prayed that the people be freed from the evils of drinking and drugs. He also remarked that he had a graceful time and that people should appreciate and acknowledge such events.
While praying for peace and unity in the nation, Pastor Prabhakaran said that in unity lies power, and then he requested everyone present to join hands and pray with unity for the nation.
The day ended with the pastors praying for the church, for the coming up of new leaders, for the spiritual blessings, for a greater intensity in the spreading of the good news to everyone.
