Willis' Day Out: Live Free or Die Hard

Bruce Willis is back yet again with another instalment of Die Hard movies and this time one can 'Live Free or Die Hard'. The movie fulfills all the cravings of a action expectant viewer. After a sabbatical of ten years, NYPD Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) is once again in charge of the state of affairs and makes his presence felt from the very first scene itself. And as a respite we get some endearing performances from the rest of the cast as well comprising of Justin Long, Timothy Olyphant, Maggie Q, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The story does have strong moral, patriotic and herois elements intertwined but the mood is spoilt, so as to say, by extreme violence, usage of foul language including some strong profanities.

None–the–less looking at the positive aspect, the movie timed in sync with USA's celebrations, starts on the Fourth of July holiday. Our detective John McClane has had a heated argument with his college–age daughter. He storms out afterwards to fetch a young computer hacker, Matt Farrell, wanted for questioning by the FBI in Washington, D.C.

Once there the violent onslaught starts as in a bid to move Farrell out of the way. John and Matt survive this attack but are greeted with another even more menacing and life threatening situation at D.C., as the whole country is engulfed in a massive technological breakdon brought by the conspiring mind of Thomas Gabriel, a sulking dissatisfied government employee. Here onwards the movie is about a cat and mouse chase as John and Matt desperately strive to stay alive and be one step ahead of Gabriel's next intent. But Gabriel has John's daughter and the military aircrafts in his clutches.

Henceforth, your guess is as good as mine as the movie offers crude and edge–of–your–seat action. The effects are impressive, suspenseful and thrilling.

Everyone is bound and understandably arguing whether this one is any which was better than the first one since from that time much ahs happened in the special effects department and so on. Honestly, 'Live Free or Die Hard' doesn't quite score in the story department as it is not that deep yet there is enough heart to satisfy almost everyone. The villain is not that intimidating though he is certainly more threatening.

The movie's title pretty much holds the jist of the movie's political and moral sentiments with John McClane presenting a good modelling for the defence of the innocent, inlcuding his family, protecting his country and fighting for the cause. It is better to look beyond the usage of strong and profane utterings and get some inspiration from the rest of the action movie.

The movie thereby doesn't disappoint the targetted audience but scores in some way with the believer viewers as well albeit with clear conscience and knowing what is on offer.
