WCC's Inter-Religious Training Program for Youth

YATRA 2017. WCC

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has announced that it started receiving applications for its inter-religious training program for youth this year.

Youth in Asia Training for Religious Amity (YATRA) 2018 seeks to enable young Christian leaders from Asian churches to contribute towards the building up of just, harmonious and peaceable communities by equipping them for ministries of justice and peace from an inter-religious perspective.

The annual intensive training course began in 2014.

This year, the residential period will take place from July 7 to 20 in Hong Kong at Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre. The residential phase is preceded by a 4-week-online learning from June 6 to July 4.

Along with the 70th anniversary of the formation of the WCC, the church body will celebrate its long term embracement of inter-religious dialogue and cooperation.

The WCC has embraced inter-religious dialogue and cooperation as an authentic form of Christian presence and participation in an increasingly pluralistic world since 1967.

YATRA, with the 2018 theme "Passionately Christian and Compassionately Inter-religious" will provide a prospect to creatively and critically reexamine the concern to reconcile one's faith as a Christian to the wider call to dialogue as an important challenge for Christian witness.
