The government of Burkina Faso has announced two days of national mourning, starting January 22, after 36 civilians were killed in a deadly attack by an unnamed terrorist group in Alamou village in Sanmatenga province on January 21.

The armed terrorist group forced their way into the town market, killed many civilians and burned down the entire marketplace. This is considered as one of the largest attacks in the nation's recent history.

The reason for the attack is unclear and till now no terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

From early 2019, there has been increasing attacks in the region and hundreds of people have been killed and displaced from their homes.

Though the government of Burkina Faso has shut down its borders with Mali and started military operations, the violence caused by the terrorist groups in the region has not gone down.

These murderous groups are seen targeting Christians in the region and punishing them for their faith in Christ.

Last year, at least 30 Christians were killed after they refused to recant their faith and convert to Islam.
