On the invitation of the Most Rev. Thomas K. Oommen, the Moderator of the Church of South India, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, will be visiting the Church of South India (CSI) from August 31 to September 5.
Accompanied by spouse Caroline Welby, the Archbishop will visit Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana and will be hosted by the Madhya Kerala Diocese, Karnataka Central Diocese and Medak Diocese. His visit is encapsulated as the "pastoral prayer and pilgrimage."
On August 31, the Most Rev. Welby will be welcomed at an ecumenical gathering in Kottayam where thousands of believers, Bishops, leaders, people's representatives from different churches and dioceses of CSI in Kerala will gather at the CSI Convention Centre.
On September 1, he will preach at the Holy Communion Service at the CSI Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chalukunnu, Kottayam.
On September 2, Caroline Welby will visit the CSI Madhya Kerala Diocesan Women's fellowship projects and the Archbishop will interact with the Presbyters of Madhya Kerala Diocese and attend the Bi-centenary celebrations of CMS College.
On September 3, the Most Rev. Welby will interact with young leaders from the Information Technology and Business Technology (IT & BT) sectors in Bangalore and deliver an academic lecture at the United Theological College in Miller's Road. Caroline Welby will visit the CSI Women's Fellowship headquarters and the Order of Sisters.
On September 4, in the reception hosted in honour of the Archbishop, the Most Rev. Welby will preach at the Holy Communion Service at St. Mark's Cathedral, Bangalore.
On September 5, he will be the preacher and celebrant at the Holy Communion Service at CSI Cathedral in Medak, Telangana. The Archbishop will also take part in an interfaith round table at the Henry Martyn Institute at Shivarampally, Hyderabad.
The Most Rev. Welby will later depart to Jabalpur on a visit to the Church of North India.
