The total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in the country reaches 52, with two newly added cases from Rajasthan and New Delhi.

Of the 52 cases, 16 are Italians, the health ministry confirmed on Wednesday.

Uttar Pradesh and Kerala have reported nine infected cases each and Delhi has five positive cases. Karnataka and Maharashtra have reported two in each state and Ladakh has reported two positive coronavirus cases.

In Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir, there is one case each.

On Tuesday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had video calls with infected people admitted at Safdarjung and Medanta hospitals, and said that those infected by the virus were stable and showing signs of recovery.

As per the current protocol, people are confirmed positive only after they are tested twice.

The health ministry has advised people with travel history to China, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Iran, Italy, France, Germany and Spain to self-quarantine for 14 days from the date of their arrival.

As the virus is becoming a global issue, India is monitoring people's entry into the country to prevent further spread. The country has already suspended visas granted to the nationals of China, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran.

Furthermore, on Tuesday, the country barred the entry of people from Germany, France and Spain.

A Bureau of Immigration notification issued on Tuesday night said that "All regular (sticker) Visas/e-Visas granted to nationals of France, Germany and Spain and issued on or before March 11 and who have not yet entered India stand suspended with immediate effect."

Let us pray for God's comfort in the face of the outbreak, healing for those who are ill and strength for medical staff and researchers.
