Several school children from both Catholic and Hindu background in Kochi, Kerala, have claimed to have witnessed a vision of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary during the last one month.

The alleged visions have said to be seen at St Ambrose Church and Lower Primary School in Edavanakkad, 16 miles northwest of Kochi. The parish and adjacent school are under the Archdiocese of Verapoly.

According to Fr Merton D'Silva, the church's assistant pastor, the apparition reportedly began on Sept. 28 when the school student, a Hindu girl named Krishnaveda, went to the church to pray for her ear problem. He said that she put some 'holy water' on her ear and reportedly felt some kind of 'healing', which she told her fellow students.

When she and her friends went back to the church to thank God for healing the girl's ear, they looked up and saw in the sky a vision of Christ being scourged, reported Herald Malaysia Online.

Later, several other students too reported the apparition and the smell of jasmine flower from the church's altar. It was also noted that none of the adults reported about any visions or the jasmine scent.

D'Silva said that a girl named Sivanya was in fear from the time she saw a vision of Mary at the altar.

The church has planned to hold night vigils and prayer.
