Increasing violence against Christians in India

(WWM)

Report from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), India, shows 218 incidents of anti-Christian violence in first eight months of the year, of which 159 reports were of threats and intimidation by vigilante mobs in the country.

On an average, 27 incidents of violence are reported every month.

The disturbing fact is that although 218 reports were documented, only 25 FIRs have been filed so far. It is evident that most of the violence reported by Christians are not investigated by officials.

In 2014, 147 incidents of violence against Christians were documented as per the Evangelical Fellowship of India. But the number increased to 325 in 2018.

Such incidents have fueled since the BJP-led government came to power in 2014. The ideology of Hindu nationalists is to have a Hindu nation. They consider other religious minorities, especially Christians and Muslims, as followers of foreign faith and treat them with hostility.
