Hyderabad Collectorate's rescue operations have helped a local church to clear sewage water from its premises caused due to heavy rains. Recent heavy rains had flooded Holy Trinity Church at Chikoti Gardens in Begumpet till knee-level and local rescue team has made efforts to drain it out.

"When it rains, the church will be flooded with rainwater till knee-level. People cannot enter the premises. Nala and drainage water gets logged inside the church as many buildings located in the surrounding of the church. It takes at least two days to clear the water," said municipal worker.

The Collectorate has also set up a control room and helpline service to provide relief and rehabilitation during intense rainfall.

"When it rains, the MRO and other staff try to rehabilitate the people in any emergency cases from the low-lying areas. We personally visit and verify if there is any emergency in order to provide accommodation in nearby community halls and government schools," said P. Venu Gopal, Bandlaguda Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO).

"We provided food in Uppuguda Krishna Reddy Nagar on Tuesday (Oct. 3) as the nala water came inside their homes. All the utilities got spoilt and we provided food in the afternoon to a few people in the housing colony," he said, according to the Hans India.

In cases of emergency, the Collectorate has asked to contact the helpline number 040 23202113. MROs of the respective division will help people in rescue operations.
