As the country's most of the states uphold the idea of complete lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak, Goa police urged people to stay inside and practice social distancing and not to visit any religious places for worship.

In an appeal made on March 23, the state police said that "God resides in everyone."

They requested all citizens, particularly priests to adhere to the directions and advise the followers to stay indoors and pray from home, and together arrest the spread of this deadly virus.

"Pandemics do not care for territorial borders, castes, religions and communities. We can very well avoid its spread by adopting social distancing norms," the police advisory said.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant announced complete lockdown in the state starting from today 12 p.m.

At a press conference, Sawant said, "Goa will be locked down due to the coronavirus crisis. No shops will be opened. The government is trying its best to provide shelters to the needy ones. The government will make arrangements for the distribution of essential commodities. Goa dairy will supply milk and collector will take the decision regarding grocery distribution."
