CSI Priest in Kerala Arrested for Alleged Sexually Assault

A 65-year-old priest has been arrested in Thiruvananthapuram on Oct. 10 for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl inside a church.

Fr Devaraj had sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl who attended the Sunday Bible study session, said the local police.

The police also said the girl's father allegedly saw his child being sexually abused by the accused when he came to pick her up, and immediately informed them.

A case under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and section 376 of IPC (rape) has been registered against Devaraj, a priest of Kandanthitta CSI church for the last one year.

He has been sent to 14-day judicial custody, the police said, according to News 18.com.
