The Asia Evangelical Alliance has called upon Christians across the globe to pray and find ways to assist the people of Nepal after the devastating earthquake rocked the country on April 25, 2015 and many more aftershocks that resulted in a loss of over 4,000 lives and had left more than 6,500 people injured. The death toll may rise even further.
"Our hearts go out to the people of Nepal as they face the impact of this disaster. We are calling upon our entire AEA family to pray for the people of Nepal even as they begin to cope with the loss of family and friends." said Rev. Dr. Sang-Bok David Kim Chairman of AEA.
Rescue missions and aid are arriving in Nepal from abroad to help cope with the aftermath of the earthquake, the worst to hit Nepal in more than 80 years.
"Christians need to be generous at this time and give sacrificially towards the rebuilding of lives and homes of the Nepali people. Many thousands of people are in desperate need of food and shelter after their homes were damaged by the earthquake," said Rev. Dr. Richard Howell, the General Secretary of AEA in a press statement.
Dr. K. B. Tamang, General Secretary of National Christian Fellowship of Nepal (NCFN) said, "We are not afraid to die but we want to live for Him as long as He keeps us on earth for His glory." Email:ncfnepals@gmail.com
AEA calls upon the body of Christ to pray for the injured and for those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy.
"Pray also for all in authority in Nepal as they provide leadership in these difficult times and for civil society groups who have rushed to the aid of the victims," concluded the statement from the general secretary office in New Delhi.
