A mastermind behind 2015 church explosion in Nepal, who was absconding for nearly two years, has been arrested by police on Oct. 18.

Bijaya Sharma, who was responsible for exploding the Emmanual Wesleyan Church in Jhapa district, has finally landed in police net, Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD) said in a statement.

Sharma, 39-year-old, also known as Madhav Prasad Bhandari of Hatiya-5 in Makwanpur district, was arrested from Ramshah path near his residence.

According to MCD, the Hindu Morcha Nepal co-ordinator Bhandari had set the explosive at the Church at Khajurgachi-6 in Jhapa district, on Sept. 15, 2015 at around 11:20 pm.

The unscrupulous act followed a violent protest by the Hindu Morcha Nepal after the Legislature-Parliament had endorsed secularism in the constitution of the country. The religious group demanded that Nepal be declared as Hindu State in the world.

A case under the Explosive Act 1961 and Prevention of Organised Crime Act 2013 has been filed against the suspect, read the statement according to Himalayan Times.
